Rare Virgin and Child, 16th century

Rare articulated Virgin and Child in carved fruit wood with remains of gilding and polychromy, addition of metal and canvas elements, hollow back. Mary leans her head towards her Son whom she holds on her right hand; face with finely contoured eyes, a long straight nose, well-defined lips and a protruding chin. She wore a dress with a square neckline revealing her shirt; the Child with fully articulated arms and legs presents the palm of his hand in a gesture of blessing.
