Salt flask, 19th century

Extraordinary salt flask in the shape of a porcelain or earthenware leg, silver mount, burgundy leather case bordered by a golden frieze and lined with red velvet.
The salt flasks or swoon flasks … filled with ammonia salts revived the beautiful ladies who, strangled in their corsets, often lost consciousness. The size in the 19th century was extremely marked, it was perhaps lovely but you have to suffer as much to be beautiful ?! Today these bottles enchant with their delicacy without further martyring pretty women!
XIX century,
France.
