Pair of small mannequins, early 19th century
Our pair of articulated sculpted wooden mannequins was useful to artists for arranging drapery or creating all sorts of scenes. This mannequin was the ideal companion and tool for artists; its immobility made it extremely useful.
Schiaparelli said of his two mannequins: “Pure Greek beauty, supple and dignified (…) which gazes with calm indifference at the crowds who stare at it, mouths agape.”
